 1) Dean Gooderham, amerikanischer Politiker (Demokratische Partei), * Middletown (Conneticut) 11. 4. 1893, ✝ Sandy Spring (Maryland) 12. 10. 1971; Rechtsanwalt, wurde 1941 von Präsident F. D. Roosevelt ins State Department berufen und war dort während des Zweiten Weltkrieges am Aufbau des Lend-Lease-Systems (Leih-Pacht-System) und an der Gründung verschiedener Organisationen der UNO beteiligt. 1945-47 war er Unterstaatssekretär im Außenministerium, 1949-53 Außenminister. Er verfolgte während des Kalten Krieges eine Politik der Eindämmung (Containment) gegenüber der UdSSR. Er hatte wesentlichen Anteil an der Gründung der NATO und der Eingliederung der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in das westliche Bündnissystem.

 2) Edward Goodrich, amerikanischer Chemiker und Industrieller, * Washington (Pennsylvania) 9. 3. 1856, ✝ New York 6. 7. 1931; wurde von T. A. Edison gefördert und experimentierte mit elektrischen Öfen. Ihm gelang die künstliche Herstellung von Graphit (Achesongraphit) und Carborundum.
